Many older vehicles have a speaker mounted right in the middle of the top of the dash. Try hinging the factory speaker cover at the rear and making a box that pops up on a spring, exposing about a 3" face when in the up position. You could use those cabinet latches that you push once to open, once more to latch. This could be used to mount a CD player in there, rather than messing up the dash which can then retain the stock AM unit. This seems better than a glove box install which maybe difficult to access while driving. Anyway, this would be a cool place for some pop up gauges as well or a great radar detector mount, very slick and stealthy. "What radar detector officer?"
