Ever tired to polish the inside of your alloy wheels? Depending on their style, it's often a bloody pain. Try painting the inside to match your colour scheme.
Creative use of paint and polish can make up for lack of funds. I painted my XD Falcon instrument faces white, added black lettering and sprayed the surrounds Ford Blue, it's no Dakota Digital job, but it still looks neat & individual.
Want custom window winders? Try modifing the OEM ones. I cut mine roughly in half, drilled a hole in the end and replaced the knob. The result is a cute stubby little winder, however it now takes a little more muscle to wind the window down!
Also on winders, if billet is too expensive, try simply polishing them, this works great on 70's & 80's metal winders, such as those that came on the XD Falcon.
Boot mounted batteries are becoming common, try setting your car apart by leaving it in it engine bay and painting it to match your car. You can also add stickers/badges/stripes to make it a feature.
EFI fuel filters can be polished up well enough to feature in a detailed engine bay. They are perfect for carburetured cars.
